“The 1845 Franklin Expedition gravesite on Beechey Island is one of the most vivid examples in Canada’s history of the intersection of early Arctic exploration and the raw northern landscape. Camping nearby, I got a sense of the environment that these past explorers experienced. As I approached the scene, the lowering sun lit up the wooden headstones with a warm glow, bringing an ethereal beauty to this somber place.” - Cory

The original painting is a part of the touring INTO THE ARCTIC Collection.
